For over 20 years FutureCare has been recognized as a leader in Maryland for the development and delivery of specialized Progressive Pulmonary Care programs. This expertise enables us to provide both short-term ventilator weaning services, as well as long-term ventilator and tracheostomy management. Our interdisciplinary team focuses on improving functional ability and overall quality of life for our patients.

Ventilator weaning and management
Short-term management – When appropriate, we actively wean residents from the ventilator and the tracheostomy tube.
Long-term management – For residents with diagnoses that make ventilator dependency a part of their lives, we offer extended ventilator management services combined with traditional long term care services.

Short-term management – actively wean patients from the ventilator and tracheostomy tube, allowing many patients to return home
Ventilators are small, lightweight and easily transportable, allowing the patient to go to the rehab gym, attend activities and go outside
Long-term management – extended ventilator management services combined with traditional long-term care services for residents whose diagnoses require ventilator dependency
Clinical oversight by pulmonologists, attending physicians and nurse practitioners
24/7 in-house respiratory therapy department
Special Care Unit designation approved by the Office of Healthcare Quality at the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
Designated activities program for enhanced quality of life
Patient and family education is provided.
Our Progressive Pulmonary Care units have been designated as special care units by the Office of Healthcare Quality at the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
Ventilator services are available at four of our locations offering a total of 169 ventilator beds:
FutureCare Capital Region has a 36-bed ventilator unit
FutureCare Homewood has a 31-bed ventilator unit with the ability to offer vent-dialysis services on-site
FutureCare Irvington has a 50-bed ventilator unit
FutureCare Pineview has a 52-bed ventilator unit with the ability to offer vent-dialysis services on the unit
